This bit of fluffy ficlet was written for my pal
wiseheart. The character of Elladan is taken from her lovely Boromir series "Fall before Temptation" (Read Soledad's series)
Title: Dawn
Summary: Elladan awaits the dawn, Boromir sleeps.
Title: Dawn
Elladan/Boromir
Summary: Elladan awaits the dawn, Boromir sleeps.
Note: Inspired by Soledad’s series "Fall Before Temptation" and the AU to that fic, "Seal on My Heart". This is her Elladan, I’ve only borrowed him, with her permission.

Warmth enveloped Elladan where he lay still, quiet and waiting for the golden glow of the sun to touch the eastern facing windows, spill inside the room and wander across the stone tiled floor to the bed. Dawn, his favored time of day, was not far off and watching the sun lift her brilliance into the purple darkness and bring forth the daybreak had long been a habit of his. Only now, there was someone to keep him from venturing out to meet the day as he once had and at present that someone still slept soundly.
Elladan meant to stay in bed and watch the light enter in and bathe the shadowed chamber in brilliance and morning warmth. He meant to watch, closely as he ever did in the coming dawns, until the man, his lover that slept so contently beside him, felt the rising warmth of the sun’s breath as she called him from his rest, and began to stir.
Fingering a lock of Boromir’s hair, Elladan drew it out on the pillow with small, careful movements. He watched as the light rose, waited as Boromir slept. He wound the bit of hair around the tip of his slender finger, studied the varied hues of the fragile strands and reflected on how difficult it was not to let his fingers wander freely. Yet, Elladan would wait just as he had been for he felt an uncanny certainty that he would not need to linger and not touch for very much longer.
Surely, it was not but a few moments before Boromir did stir, turning on his side toward Elladan who released the neatly wound lock of hair and drew nearer his lover with dark, waiting eyes. In his slumber Boromir sighed, and with a low sound made deep within his throat, stretched his long muscled body lazily. His hand reached out blindly and came to rest upon Elladan’s trim hip, the warm familiar fingers gripping lightly.
Then with a bare, soft exhalation, Elladan watched as Boromir’s lashes, tipped now in golden morning sunlight, fluttered minutely before slowly parting and Elladan found himself ensnared by a pair of fine, drowsy eyes. Drowsy eyes that for a moment were completely unguarded and filled with gentle contentment, then with wakefulness narrowed.
“You’ve been watching me sleep again.” Boromir accused, voice husky with sleep and playful censure.
“That I have.” Elladan admitted.
Boromir shook his head on the pillow, causing hair to slide into his eyes, and at last, as Elladan watched so intently, Boromir smiled. To Elladan seeing that freely given smile felt akin to summer’s warm bloom after a bitter winter’s freeze. This smile was his treasure, his own and no other’s. It was the smile for which he had waited so patiently throughout the morning and even as Elladan reached out and brushed the hair back from Boromir’s face, he found that smile mirrored in beautiful, sleep heavy eyes.
“You are a queer elf.”
Elladan did not disagree, and when Boromir reached out and drew him close he went willingly and eagerly set about tasting Boromir’s smile. The smile that belonged to Elladan and no other, that he’d waited for just as he had the day before, just as he would tomorrow and all the days that followed that found them together, as always.

Date: 2003-06-13 12:40 pm (UTC)Honestly, I feel totally spoiled. And envious, that I ever thought of such a thing.
I find it so matching for Boromir's character, at least as I see him, that he is unguarded in that singular moment, right after he awakes. And it's just so characteristic for Elladan that he's willing to wait patiently for this special moment and this smile - that is his and his only.
Thank you! :))

Thank you! :))
No, thank you! I'm so glad that you saw them as being in character. Was a bit worried about that. I love reading about your Elladan and Boromir in your stories, and am very happy that you liked them here. ;)
