Looking back through my misty memory, this may be the first epic-length LOTR fic that I read. Back then it was hosted on fanfic.net, but happily can now be found on AO3. Surprisingly (coming from me, ha!) this is NOT Aragorn/Boromir, though their relationship here is no less engaging. And, at times achingly beautiful, this storytelling portrays much the Boromir of my imagination: strong, proud, flawed, stubborn, funny, decent and deeply beautiful inside and out. I adore the relationship between Boromir and Merry here, and just the entire thing. It's one of those stories that, once you reach the bittersweet end, you feel as if you're being parted from your dearest friend. I could say a lot more, but, in the end, just go read! :)
