~*~
The night was theirs, lay long and dark before them, and Aragorn gloried in the truth of it. Touching, seeking, learning skin, bone and muscle, taught him that Boromir was surprisingly sensual. He looked into almost trusting eyes, and was lost, irrevocably.
Aragorn was lost, for he wanted to soothe and protect, hold and keep. He wanted to love, even if his love was not returned. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, he thought, and then thought fled, leaving only feeling. Aragorn thrust into Boromir and knew only his lover’s heat.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Yes, he would remember, in the morning.

--Beautiful line. So clear, cutting right through the dark and heat and soft and warmth of the rest of the story. Lovely.
