~8~
China, shattering, scattering all over the kitchen floor, and Sean barely has time to jump back, slippered feet skidding against the tiles.
“Just an old plate,” Viggo says, “nothing to worry about.”
Together they gather the shards, and Viggo’s smile is mirrored on Sean’s face, and both holds slivers of memory. They’ve done this before, picked up the pieces of something once thought hopelessly fractured. The razor sharp bits clink together as they make a pile of broken bone china.
Glancing up, Sean finds Viggo grinning, and he follows suit.
Some things are hopelessly broken, just not them, not anymore.
