“You’ve got to be kidding.”
Apollo shook his head, hiding a smile.
“You must be.”
“Starbuck, some of us actually have work to do. I can’t just take off for the Rising Star anytime it suits me.”
“You’re not serious.”
Apollo worked to keep his expression neutral despite the fact that he’d been waiting for this very moment all hecton. “Well, I am.”
Starbuck stared, and after a couple microns Apollo couldn’t stop his grin.
“You daggit. I knew you weren’t serious.” And just like that Apollo got what he’d been waiting for, what made his heart race.
Starbuck smiled.
