He flows through me like a river, fast and strong and undeniable, going just one way – straight to my heart. I cannot stop him, cannot turn him aside; I wouldn’t change his course even if I had the means. He’s redrawing the map of my life and he doesn’t even realize it, doesn’t realize the power he wields, doesn’t know that he’s washing away landmarks that have always held me fast and sure and safe. He’s tearing through my cautious levees and my dreams are caught and held in the grip of his attention, his smiles, and he’s only being himself, not knowing how his friendship is reshaping me, taking me down into that deep, feeling place. I’m not smart enough to be afraid of the claim he could have on me if he knew, of the claim he already has on me; I want that, I want him. I want to drink from him and bathe in him, sink down into his current and never come up for air. I want to dive headlong into him. He flows through me like a river, fast and strong and undeniable and I look into his depths, into green eyes and I see reflected back at me loving friendship, yet I seek the others, the lust, the thirst, the desire of a lover. I want, hope to find them there and there are times where I think I glimpse them drifting by and in those moments I feel watermarked by him, his design impressed into my skin, indelible.
I look into his green eyes and when he looks back, I want to drown in him.
