Is 'The Horse is Good'...any good?

Is anyone out there familiar with Viggo Morthensen's book The Horse is Good? I was looking at some of his books as a birthday gift for my Mom, her being a Viggo fan (or rather an Aragorn fan)...I don't think she'd care much for his poetry, but if anyone knows this book and has an opinion I'd love to hear. Thanks!
