Missed the greed challenge

I really wanted to answer the greed challenge over at lotrips100 but I just couldn't quite get a handle on it, everything kept veering into fluffy fic. Bah! Ended up with three drabbles, this is the one I like the best, so I'll post it here so I can say I at least gave it an effort.
