Christian Conrad blew his knee out playing football in a movie called Last Time Out the year before HMR and you can see him limping/walking a little funny like he can’t bend it all the way and he always kneels awkwardly and wears a brace under his leggings sometimes. And then I’m Jesse Hawkes there’s an episode where he is wearing a huge brace that isn’t part of the story line to play pickup bball — he must have had it fixed at some point between filming the two shows.

There was a fic writer named Kris back in the 2000s who had a whole universes built around this backstory —- Matt blowing out his knee in college playing football and again in the Washout ep, and it troubling him off and on throughout her story lines, which were rich and fantastic.
